Where have you gone, Joe DiMaggio?

It's been awhile. No apologies -- we're all bigger than that. But now here I am, the one that you love, asking for another day. Wait... someone else used that in their blog recently. Damn. How about: But now I'm back, to let you know I can really shake it down. Anyone? Ah, forget it. ; P

What have I been up to, you ask? Work, work and more work. The show is running fairly smoothly at Second City, although it's frustrating to me that all I can do there is maintain the status quo. I'd love to be into the details of making things better, but I barely have time to run in, run the show, and run back out. I did find time to stage manage a two night Black History Month show called "The Soul of the Second City," but it was a mistake to have taken on other stuff during this hectic time. It was a fun show, though. At Columbia, my boss David's mother passed away so he was out of the office for a couple of weeks and as usual it fell to me to pick up the slack. And wouldn't you know it, all that extra stress resulted in my coming down with a nasty cold last week. I took most of the week off from work. It would have been nice if I hadn't felt to lousy. And of course this week's been doubly stressful as I try to catch up with all the things that fell through the cracks last week while I was gone. Sigh. And top it all off with a healthy feeling of guilt over how screwed they'll be in a couple of weeks. At least they're interviewing a candidate for my job tomorrow. Cross your fingers!

At home, I don't think I've posted since I got my new computer! It's a Gateway GT5405E with Windows Vista and a 19" flatscreen monitor, and it's awesome! It was totally worth the money, and I'm SO happy that I have it. It's been especially nice this past week while I was cooped up in the house feeling ill. I have plans for some fancy accessories for it, but I'll write more about them later as they happen. Kingston had some visitors staying at the apartment two weekends ago, which was nice. I like guests, and I like his friends, so it works out well. Kelly and I celebrated the two month mark on Friday, and she's continuing to be my salvation from all the work. We had a great Valentine's Day, and are planning to take a trip together in April as a joint birthday present. Yay! Not much else to tell -- some birthdays, some drama, an aborted attempt to go to Owosso and visit Heather (it's now been postponed to April), the usual sturm and drang.

And speaking of sturm and drang, I saw "300" on Sunday. I quite enjoyed it, despite feeling a little dirty afterward. I get that feeling from Frank Miller projects a lot. A cup of misogyny, several tablespoons of homophobia, and a few dashes of fascism to taste. "The Dark Knight Returns" still stands as the best comic book of all time, but there's only so much slack I can cut you, Frank. Come on back down to Earth now, buddy.

But as long as we're on the subject, here it is -- your Moment of Zen:

That's it for me; I'm off to bed. Tot ziens!
